On Sundays I like to "recreate" by playing with fabric. Today I made another version of the new block:
This one's a winner! (the black/white/red) I would just like to have a wide variety of red squares in among the black and white. I'll have to explore my stash and see what there is.
This time I cut the squares larger than the pattern said. Instead of 6" I cut the squares at 6 5/8". The small squares were cut at 2 1/8" instead of 2". That way, when the quarter blocks were completed they were able to be trimmed to 5" as suggested in the pattern.
Very often I find I need to cut a larger square than specified in order to end up with an adequate sized final block. Is that your experience also?
